Precious Conversation
(Between Mommy and Preston, this conversation happens often during the day):
Preston (slowly swaying left to right): Hi Mommy!
Mommy: Hi Preston.
Preston: Home (matter of factly).
Mommy: Yes, we are home.
Preston: Daddy? Escola. (School).
Mommy: Yes, Daddy is at school.
Preston: Hi Mommy!!
Mommy: Hi Preston.
Preston: Home.
Between Daddy and Preston yesterday morning:
Preston: Hi Daddy!
Daddy: Hi Preston.
Preston: Home! (with excitement in the voice).
These little conversations make me feel so happy and know that my being home all day with him matters to him and makes a difference. :)

An Odd Kind of Seatbelt
When Preston was eating an orange one day he called out to me "Mommy, seatbelt on! Seatbelt on!" I went to see what the seatbelt was on and Preston shows me the "seatbelt" on the orange: the little thread-thingys that are left on the orange after you peel it. He now always says "seatbelt on!" when he wants me to peel the thread-thingys off the orange. Better name than I have for them I suppose!

Preston Playing with Daddy
Preston was so excited for Daddy to get home yesterday. They played until Preston had to take his bath and go to bed. They played cars, wrestling and a new walk on the back and jump off game. Preston had to be carried downstairs crying to take his bath, he had missed his Daddy so much.

Eva Rolls Over on Camera!
Eva took a long time for this roll over, but I finally caught it. The first video is of her attempting. The second is of the accomplishment.
Preston helps Mommy get gas
Yesterday we needed gas, but I could not find my wallet, so no credit card. I had some cash and so I had to go into the store to purchase gas, with Preston and Eva. On our way back to the car, Preston shouts out "button!" and lo and behold, our little Honda got treated to a "Blend" instead of the cheaper "Unleaded." Nine cents more per gallon! Preston just says "I push button!" And I just have to smile and say, "yes, you did. Thank you for helping mommy pump the gas." Then I hurried and buckled him back into the car so that he wouldn't help me anymore.

Preston meets a new friend and other stories
Last night we went to a birthday party for a friend. There was a little boy named Gregory there who really liked Preston. He is only eight months old and so he can crawl, but not walk. Preston kept trying to help him up. Preston was just so sure that Gregory could stand up if he would just let Preston help him to his feet. No matter how many times we told him that Gregory was too little, we would turn around and see Preston pulling Gregory's arm again, "stand up!"
Today, we went to drop Kevin off at school. As soon as we got to the parking lot to drop Kevin off, Preston says, "Buh-bye Daddy! Buh-bye Daddy!" He just knew that Kevin was getting out soon. Then we were almost home and Preston usually says "home!" when we get to our street, but today he says, "almost home, going home --- HOMING!" He is so proud of his knowledge of gerand-ing!

Eva Elefante
This is a video of Eva's new noise! When she makes it well, Preston calls her Eva Elefante because it is the sound he associates with an elephant. She is trying very hard in this video, you can tell she has not perfected her new noise yet!

Preston counts to cinco!
Yesterday, on the phone with Aunt Kimmy, Preston counted from um to cinco all by himself. He is learning very quickly. In English it is hard for him to get past three because after three he usually just yells "YAY!" -- all the fun games require a "yay!" at the count of three!
We went to Joe Vera's (a Mexican Restaurant) and he sat down in a high chair and grabbed for the menu, which he proceeded to open and then say, "Let's see, let's see." He has also acquired the phrase "so..." at the dinner table while folding his hands together. I have no idea where he got this from.
Today was his first day coloring on the walls. He chose a bright red marker that won't come all the way off. He isn't even two yet!

Preston counts!
Last night Preston said, all by himself,
"um, dois, tres, quatro!"
In English he has done one, two, three for awhile.
With prompting, in both languages, he can get to five (or cinco).

Preston's New Game
Preston found a new way to entertain himself -- sometimes I am required to "Run! Mat!" as well.
For some reason the helmet is an important aspect of the game. :) Usually the running around lasts for minutes, but he saw the camera and so only wanted to "see!" He usually looks up at me and says, "Bye-bye" or Tchau" before the running around starts too.

Go Dog. Go! and Nursery Influences
Preston was playing with his cousin, Kalaya. They started to pretend to drive a car. Kalaya asks Preston, "Where should we go?"
Preston's response: "To the tree!" -- a direct line from Go Dog. Go!
Later tonight when I was putting Preston to bed he asked for a new song. For the last week or so it has been "Nephi song." Tonight he said something different and I didn't understand what he was saying until he raised his arms up in the air and said "Sunbeam song!" He must have sung that in Nursery today at church.

Portugles
Preston was playing with fake food, plates, knifes, etc.
He starts to cut his cookie with the faca (knife in Portuguese) and he says, "faca-ing." Lately, every word can add "ing" and be what he is currently doing.
For instance, the other day he was stuck and he calls out, "Mommy! Stucking!"

An Eva Milestone
This morning Eva rolled over from her tummy to her back! Hooray. She is learning. She is very cute. She giggled for Grandma over the phone a lot yesterday too. She is a very easy going little girl.

Nephi has a Buddy
So Preston finally requested a different song, Nephi's Courage. Tonight I was singing him I am a Child of God and he stopped me and asked for "Nephi." Half-way through Nephi's Courage, Preston stops me again: "No, no, no, no....different song...Buddy! Buddy!"
Nephi and Buddy are the names of the two dogs at our house :)
