Our Honeymoon-like Excursion to Salt Lake City

We went to Mazaa, a Middle Eastern Cuisine restaurant, for dinner and we stayed at Ellerbeck Mansion in Salt Lake City. It was a great get away and a great birthday present to me, from Kevin, on his birthday! KeriAnn did my hair and I felt like a bride! She did it in ten minutes. That is talent. We had a ton of fun and want to go again now! We stayed in the Christmas Wishes room. We had soda in champagne glasses, chocolates and we even went out and got ice cream. Eva and Preston made it through the night without us, thanks to their aunts and uncle.

Eva's First Ponytail!

Not her most photogenic hour, but she sure looks mature with this little ponytail! Aunt KeriAnn did it for her. In other news, Eva said her second word: Eva. Her own name! Preston was playing with her while she was in the stroller and he jumped up by her and said, "Hi Eva! Eva, Eva!" And she said right back, plain as day: "Eva."

Playing with Cousin Baby Leia

We sometimes watch our cousins, Dillon and Baby Leia. Here are a few cute pictures of Baby Leia at our house. Eva and Preston both really enjoy having her here.

This is Preston trying to give Eva and Baby Leia a hug at the same time. :)

Isn't she so chubby and cute!

Preston Talk

Daddy asks Eva, "Sabe o que e?" which means "Do you know what it is?" Preston turns to Eva and says, "sabe what it is? sabe what it is?" Perfect Portugles --not missing any of the words. He is so cute!

Daddy knocked a chair over on accident as they were rushing out of the house to go get Mommy. Daddy said it was okay and to just leave it because they were rushing. So they walk through the kitchen and into the living room on the way out. Preston's Spiderman chair is sitting in the living room and of course, he purposefully knocks it over and keeps walking (very purposefully) towards the door.

Our sister, Kumiko, is from Japan. She was talking on the phone in Japanese and said "see you later" but in Japanese. Preston copied her exactly. She was very excited that he spoke Japanese. She told that he had just said, "See you later." Preston liked how it sounded and of course, said it a few more times.

Daddy changed Preston's diaper and just a minute later said, "Vamos trocar a frauda" (let's change the diaper), and Preston got this confused look and then said, "It's for Eva. Not Preston. I'm already changed" (pointing to his diaper)! And he was right, Daddy was changing Eva.

Daddy and Preston were in a store with a shopping cart. Preston wanted to push it. So he says, in his most kind voice, "Please don't push it, Daddy." He just sounded so grown-up.

Lately he has picked up this habit of saying, "oh" after we answer a question he has asked. It is really quite cute.

Father's Day

Preston wished Daddy a Happy Father's Day today. He gave him a flower from Grandma's garden that he picked himself and he drew him a picture in nursery.

Today, while listening to his Chidren's music CD to go to sleep, "Jesus wants me for a Sunbeam" came on and before any words were sung, Preston was singing, "at play, at play" and then he followed along with the music when they started to sing.

When I picked him up from nursery today he told me how he played Ring around the Rosies by saying "rosies, rosies!" and going in circles and then saying, "we all hold hands! We all fall down!" and falling down.

I put Eva up at the table with us during dinner tonight and she was reaching for everything in sight. Preston says, "She is trying to get something yummy!" He is so cute. He was very nice to her all day today, hardly any hitting.

Eva said "pa" today. She giggled a lot while playing "follow the leader" with Daddy, Preston and I. She is growing very fast. She is interested in everything we eat and wants in on it!

Kevin is the best daddy in the world. He even changed a poopy diaper on Father's Day. I owe to him my sanity. I know that Preston and Eva would be very sad kids without him. Happy Father's Day!

Preston loves...

Mommy: Do you love mommy?
Preston: No! I love KeriAnn!
Mommy: And who else?
Preston: I love daddy! And Eva!
Mommy: Do you love mommy?
Preston: No! I love KeriAnn!

(I always get the short straw)!

Singing "Popcorn Popping" with Janet, GG, and KeriAnn:
I looked out the window and what did I see...
He glances around the table and notices that KeriAnn does not have her hands up to her eyes like fake glasses. So, he says: KeriAnn, can you do it too?!
Then he notices that GG is doing it, but she also has real glasses on. This is apparently a problem because he shouts: GG, can you take off your glasses!?

He repeated this song with them a few times and they also had a tea party.

He loves GG's house.

Preston's Long Prayer

First, some cute quotes this morning that he said to Daddy:
"Daddy, I need some water. I’ve got some stuff in my mouth."
"I’m gonna get the uvas by myself." (uvas=raisins).

Preston said the sweetest prayer last night. He just told Heavenly Father all about his day. Here it is, word for word, as best as I could recall:

"Dear Heavenly Father"
(then I say "I thank thee for..." and he fills in)
"this day,
Sunday,
and the drums
BIG drums
we go by the water
and I was sad
We go by the green water
I can't touch it
It's too far away
too far away
(I say "in the name of Jesus Christ...)
"No!!!!! I wanna pray again!
Dear Heavenly Father,
Drums were loud
Go like this (with his hands over his ears)
The motos were loud
driving on the street
I go by the water
I was scared!
They have candy
It's our candy?
our candy?
They throw it on the mat
I get it with my hand
With my hand
name of Jesus Christ...Amen

Can you guess what he did that day?

Happy Birthday Kimmy!

Preston singing Kim Happy Birthday, the best I could get him to do on the camera. He loves you!

Eva's First Word!

Perhaps it was a fluke, but I am counting it.
June 8th, 2009: Eva's first word was... "Papai!"

I think it is pretty talented that it is two syllables! Papai means Daddy in Portuguese. Preston's first word was Pai, which means Dad. Eva really is a Daddy's girl. She has said it five times. Four times in a row on Monday, the 8th and once the next day. I asked, "Where's your Papai?" and she looked right at him! From my perspective, she really knew what she was talking about.

She is making lots and lots of noises. When she plays all by herself she favors this low-toned, grunting noise. It sure is cute. She does the half-trick really well now too:

Eva Riding a Train

Eva riding the train. She was playing with it and it fell over just as you see it in the video:
Eva esta andando no trem. Estava brincando con ele e caiu assim:

Collection of Cute Sayings Lately...

"Can you change my diaper, daddy?" holding out his hand to daddy who is laying down. Then he walks over by the diaper bag and lies down on the ground. (Extra cute to me because I was right next to Daddy).

With an apple, "Mommy, can you bite it. Start it? It's hard to bite it."

With a blue baseball hat on, "I'm a policia, mommy! Policia gonna ride in the car."
Later, before eating his toast, he takes off the hat and announces, "I'm not a policia anymore, Mommy."

Reading a book that had birds in it, we arrive at the last page that has trees on it. He asks, "Where are the passaros (birdies) mommy?" And then turns the pages until he finds the birdies from the previous pages. He carefully picks one bird up off the page (imagining) and goes to the end of the book and then places it on the trees. "I put birdy on the trees." Then he gets the other bird and does the same.

"Bye mommy. See ya later. Bye, see ya later. I give a hug. I give a hug." -- as he watches Mommy leave in the car for Ballet class.

Telling on himself, Preston told Kristy, “I tear pato.” He meant that he got stressed in his room and tore to pieces a page of the Portuguese pato book.

Chasing daddy with a crocodile, he makes the crocodile bite Daddy's face. Afterwards, he gives daddy a kiss all better.

He pretends to be a horse for Eva to ride. He gets a little upset that she can't return the favor.

Uncle Kevin's Happy Birthday

On Uncle Kevin's birthday we all went over to GG's house and had chicken fajitas and cookies. The following video is what Uncle Kevin and Preston found amusing:

We love Uncle Kevin!
