Spiderman vs. Doc Ock

Playing Marbles in Utah

Playing marbles with Grandma at GGs house. Always incredibly fun.

Eva's Eye Surgery

We went to the Eagle Eye Surgery Center in Meridian to get Eva's Eye Surgery done by Dr. Whitfield. She did a good job, we hope! She said that Eva did well and that chances are in our favor for only having to do this one time (75-80%). Eva had infantile esotropia, basically her eyes were going cross-eyed and the doctor had to fix the muscles in her eyes to get them to look straight again. The pictures are backwards.
Here is Eva after the surgery on the way to Utah. We built her a tent to block her eyes from the sun:

A close up of her puffy eyes: She wouldn't open her eyes pretty much the whole day. Here she is holding some sandwich, which she felt to make sure it was what she had asked for.
Here we all are at the surgery center before the surgery:

Empty Plates

Making dinner last night took as long as making Thanksgiving dinner and yet, all it was, was a glorified side dish casserole. I made it into an entree by adding sausage (also to increase its likeability to Eva, who requested sausage and noodles again). So, the dinner that I started preparing at 4:30 and was supposed to be done shortly after 5, took until 6:15 to get into the oven. Among the list of things that caused disruption were: Eva, Eva, Ellie, Ellie, Eva, Eva, Eva, Preston, Preston, Ellie, Eva, Eva, Eva, Ellie and Eva. Mostly Eva. With the screaming and the needing to pee her pants and with trying to feed Ellie paper and then Preston screaming because it was his coloring paper and then, and then, and then. However, hard work gets results. Because although half of this dish ended up on the floor before going in the oven (Eva), it turned out alright.

Ellie's First Cereal

Elisabeth enjoyed her first meal, rice cereal and breastmilk, delicious. Mostly, she enjoyed the spoon. The actual cereal made her make a face, not liking it a ton. But she loves sitting up at the table with us during breakfast time. She thought that the whole experience was fun, even if she leans a little to the right :)

Couple Stories

Ellie was crying in the car on the way home from the grocery store (past feeding time) and Preston starts singing to her to make her happy: "You are so cute, and adorable. You are adorable Ellie. You are so cute. And you eat flowers. But people don't eat flowers. Animals eat flowers. Don't eat flowers. You are so cute Ellie. You are adorable..." I thought it was rather catchy!

Just to journal this incident, so I don't forget it. Mothers lose it sometimes and sometimes it is okay. Eva had been having a very whiny day. I think she might be like this sometimes just because her eyesight is bad right now because of being cross-eyed. But, I had been dealing with whining non-stop since she woke up. She whined for a drink of water. I started to get her one, but "No! Bottle! I BABY!" I was putting her water in a cup, excuse me. So, I got the bottle (she drinks out of the bottle like a cup because I tell her we can't find the lid). As I was filling it up with water she runs up to me and smacks me. I just turned and poured the water from the bottle right on top of her head! Oooh, she made me so mad. And then, of course, she starts screaming like she was just dropped into an ice cold lake. I told her I spilled it on accident and apologized. Who knows if she believed me? I hope she doesn't hold it against me for life, but it sure did make me feel a little better that time. I know I am usually a better mother than this. Hopefully I will continue to be.

Going for a Walk

It takes a lot of bundling up to go on a walk right now, but every once in awhile it is worth it. Here is sweet Ellie, sleeping.

And me and the other two, all bundled up. (Dad was the photographer this time).

Ellie, starting to sit up

Of course, there are some failed attempts, but Ellie is starting to sit up on her own! Eva is especially proud of her, and causes her to fall down more often than Ellie would on her own with her enthusiastic "helping."
