Preston Stories

I was feeding Eva and Preston decided to go outside. The backdoor is usually locked, but Grandma had just let the dogs in, so it was unlocked. Preston opened the door and went out, but then could not get back in (it is harder to push the door then pull it for some reason). So he kept shouting at me (he could see me through the glass door), "Stuck in here mommy! Stuck in here!" I just shouted, "You'll have to wait until Eva is done eating." That seemed to satisfy him and he went away from the door and played around in the backyard. A minute or so later he comes up to the door holding something up in his hand. I can't tell what he has, but he shouts "I go potty mommy!" and sure enough he is standing bare-bummed in the backyard with his wet pants in hand. He continued to shout "I go potty mommy!" until I got to the door and let him in.

Preston has some new phrases. When we ask, "What does Grandma say?" He responds, "I love you." in his most girly voice. When asked "What does Grandpa say?" He responds, "Where's my boy?" in the lowest voice he can manage.

Eva Giggle Game

I was trying to get Eva to start sitting up, but she just thinks it is hilarious to fall over!

Funny Kids

Preston was trying to go potty yesterday, attempting number two. I kept telling him, "Try to go." So he starts saying, "On you marks, get set...GO!" And every time he said "go" he would start grunting. I have no idea where he got this. But I guess it helps him poo.

Then today, Eva was watching Preston and I play air hockey and she just started to giggle her little head off every time Preston hit the puck. I think the face he made was funny to her. Then Preston copied her laughing and he says, "like Santa!" Although her laugh sounds very little like Santa Claus.

Cute Preston Sayings

Yesterday Preston told me "Jumping like a frog" while playing in the family room and "Swimming like a fish" while taking a bath. Today while eating toast he shouts "Cavalo!" and started to 'neigh' his half-eaten toast around the table. Then he bit the toast and says, "cavalo all gone!" He did the same thing with a cookie later today except it was a "dinosaur!"

Also today, he was eating a plum and when he got to the middle he bit the pit and started repeating over and over "I don't like it! I don't like it!" Then he said "Yucky. Trashcan," and threw it away.

First Successful Day!

Preston after his first successful day of potty training. Zero accidents and one pair of underwear all day! What a big boy!

Dinosaur Underwear and a Haircut

Preston proudly shows off his dinosaur underwear!

So I attempted to give Preston a haircut. It is probably awful, but it does not look too bad in these pictures. The first picture is a before shot: Preston with the toy that occupied him for about one minute. Then we called Kimmy, then we called Grandma. Grandma asked him what noises all the animals make and sang Preston songs, which made it possible to finish the haircut.

Still one handsome kid!

Here is Grandma singing to Preston over the phone. He was rocking the phone back and forth to her lovely lullabies:

Funny Potty Story

Preston went pee and he told me "I pooped!" and so I told him "No, you peed." He kept repeating "I peed," because he often just repeats and repeats the last thing I say. He stopped saying it for a second and then looked up at me and questions "I peeped?" He couldn't remember what he had been saying. It was so cute. I told him "peed" one more time and he repeated the difference, "I peed. I pooped" for awhile.

We have not been so successful today. We are on our eighth and last pair of underwear.

For Our Aunt Kellie!

Preston wanted his Aunt Kellie to know how much he loves her. We love you very much!

Preston Potty Training Update

Yesterday Preston did much better. Kevin let me sleep in in the morning because I am sick, so Preston wore a diaper until after nap time. But when we started underwear in the afternoon, Preston only got one pair of underwear wet. He wore underwear until bedtime and he did very well! One pair compared to ten pairs the day before! He learns very fast. I also did a lot more of "let's try to go potty again" than I did the day before. He was very happy when his underwear were "clean and dry!"

Yay for potty training because soon we will stop spending forty dollars a month on diapers!

Tummy Time Together

Preston often asks "Eva, tummy?" so that he can play on his tummy with her. He loves his little sister.

Two Cute Pictures of Eva, Preston Skating and Imitating Uncle Kevin

Cute Eva pictures...

Awake!

Asleep!

Preston decided the kitchen floor was great to skate on. He is very cute pretending to skate.

Uncle Kevin came over for a bit today. After he left Preston went to the couch and pretended to sleep, like he does many times throughout each day. But then he started to snore loudly (he usually has a very soft "shhh" noise when he pretends to sleep). I looked over at him and he says "Sleep like Uncle Kevin!" and I asked him to show me again and he began to snore loudly once more, then he said again, "sleep -- Uncle Kevin!" I find it hilarious that Preston still remembers Kevin's loud snore (he slept on our couch about six months or longer ago).

Preston Starts Potty Training

Today was the first official day of potty training for Preston. We went through 10 pairs of underwear and one diaper. He went potty on the potty twelve times. He really has to pee a lot! He would usually pee a little bit in his underwear first and then finish on the potty. He was very proud when he went poo poo on the potty. He exclaimed with surprise as "more poo poo" came out.

This morning after a complete miss, he came to me with his pants soaked through and said, "my potty!" After I had cleaned him up and put on new underwear and pants he tells me "I shi shi na ground!" Which is Portuguese/English for "I went pee pee on the ground." And then he led me to the spot on the floor where there was a little puddle of pee.

Potty training is an incredible new adventure. He often wants to "call grandma!" after every successful attempt.
